Metropolitan Ghattas of Kuwait and Baghdad meets with a Russian Orthodox Church cleric

In the morning of April 16, at a church of the Antiochian Orthodox Church in Kuwait there was celebrated the Paschal divine service in the Church Slavonic language by Archimandrite Alexander (Zarkeshev), rector of the Russian parish of St. Philip in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates.
Attending the service were Russians, Serbs, Ukrainians and Bulgarians residing in Kuwait. Praying at the service was also the Ambassador of Bulgaria.
The Divine Liturgy being over, Archimandrite Alexander paid a visit to Metropolitan Ghattas of Baghdad, Kuwait and Dependencies, the Antiochian Orthodox Church. His Eminence warmly congratulated the guest on the Great and Holy Feast of Pascha exclaiming “Christ is Risen!” in Church Slavonic.
Archimandrite Alexander presented Metropolitan Ghattas with a Paschal gift – the hierarchal censer made by master jewelers.
Discussed at the meeting were issues pertaining to the opening of parishes of other Local Orthodox Churches in the canonical territory of the Baghdad and Kuwait Metropolis in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman.
In the evening Archimandrite Alexander celebrated the Paschal service in Church Slavonic at the Catholic church in Manama, the capital of Kuwait. The local community of the Antiochian Orthodox Church celebrates in this church building. Among those praying were Rev. Sabba Haidusian, rector of the local Antiochian Orthodox parish, and his wife.
Before the service, Fr Alexander presented the Antiochian community with the eight-pointed carved wooden cross which was immediately put on the altar.
