Orthodox faithful in Lithuania are praying for the persecuted Ukrainian Orthodox Church
The churches of the Diocese of Vilna have begun praying for the brethren of the Kiev Pechersk Monastery, the teachers and students of the Kyiv Theological Schools, and for the entire persecuted Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
According to the diocesan website, since April 5, with the blessing of Metropolitan Innokentii of Vilna and Lithuania, at each service, after the commemoration of Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine with his God-protected flock, the abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, and the monastery brothers, prayers for the entire canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church are read.
As Metropolitan Innokentii noted, Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is of great importance to the entire Orthodox world. "Today, the unimaginable is happening: the monks who have been restoring it from the ruins for three decades are being expelled from the holy monastery. It is our duty as Christians to intensify prayer for the persecuted Ukrainian Orthodox Church," the hierarch stressed.
