Parishioners of the Moscow Patriarchate community in Antaya make a pilgrimage to Ólympos

DECR Communication Service, 08.04.2023.
On April 7, the feast day of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, over eighty parishioners of the Moscow Patriarchate community in Antalya made a pilgrimage to the ancient city of Ólympos where, according to some historians, hieromartyr Methodius of Ólympos (Patara) was bishop in the late third-early fourth centuries.
Accompanying the group of pilgrims was Rev. Alexy Golovin, responsible for pastoral care of the Moscow Patriarchate faithful in Antalya.
The ancient city of Ólympos in the Lycian region is located on the Mediterranean Coast of Turkey a few kilometers southwest of Antalya. Survived from the Byzantine period are some basilicas of the fourth-sixth centuries, the bishop’s palace and the baptistery.
