Representative of the Russian Church visits churches of the Patriarchate of Antioch in the regions struck by earthquake

On February 17, Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), representative of the Russian Orthodox Church to the Antiochian Patriarchal See, visited Syrian cities struck by the devastating earthquake in Syria and Turkey on February 6.
Archimandrite Philip was met by Metropolitan Nicholas of Hama (Epiphania) at St. George’s Cathedral in the city of Hama. The hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Antioch told his guest about history of the diocese and the cathedral and showed him round the diocesan administration.
Afterwards, Metropolitan Nicholas, Archimandrite Philip, and the diocesan clergy visited the city of Scalbie and the church of St. George the Victorious seriously damaged by the earthquake, website of the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Damascus reports.
Also visited was the church of Ss Peter and Paul in Scalbie consecrated by His Beatitude Patriarch John X, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Antioch, in May 2022.
