Feast of the Intercession of the Theotokos is celebrated in Jerusalem

On October 13, the eve of the Feast of the Intercession of the Theotokos, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, abbot of the Dormition Laura of the Caves in Kiev, presided over festive divine services at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, the main church of Russian Orhodoxy in the Holy Land. Concelebrating were Archimandrite Alexander (Yelisov), head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, ordained staff members of the Mission and clerics of the Kievan Laura of the Caves currently on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land together with their archpastor.

During their stay in the Hoy Land, the pilgrims attended Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, were received in audience by His Beatitude Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, attended divine services at the Church of the Tomb of the Theotokos in the Garden of Gethsemane and at the Basilica of the Nativity - the birthplace of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem, visited the Convent of the Ascension on Mount of Olives, the Gorny Convent in Ein Karem and the Metochion of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Hebron, in the territory of which the Oak of Mamre is located.

On October 14, the Feast of the Intercession of the Theotokos, Metropolitan Pavel celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral. Clerics of the Mission and the Kievan Laura of the Caves assisted.

Archimandrite Alexander officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Gorny Convent on the feast day. After the dismissal and glorification of the feast, clergymen and sisters of the Convent, singing festive hymns, proceeded to the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Theotokos and venerated the icon, Mission press service reports.
