Priests of the Russian Orthodox Church baptize hundreds of people in various African countries since the beginning of August

From the beginning of August 2022 priests of the Russian Orthodox Church have baptized hundreds of people on the continent of Africa, states the site of the Patriarchal Exarchate in Africa.
On the 8th Sunday after Pentecost in the Church of St. John Climacus in Cape Town, South Africa, after the Divine Liturgy Father Nicholas Esterhuizen celebrated the sacrament of baptism. In the village of Chinsevu in the district of Kasungu in the central province of Malawi, twenty-nine people were received into the Orthodox faith. The sacrament of baptism was celebrated by Father George Chabwera. Formerly Protestants, including their pastor, they underwent a long period of catechism under the supervision of Father George, and on 11th August they became members of the Russian Orthodox Church.
On 13th August in Antsirabe in Madagascar, four people were baptized by Father Nicholas Ramarusoon. On the same day at the parish of St. Zosima in the village of Chemelil in Kenya, the regional dean of Nandi Father Titus Kipijen and Father Christopher Kikbiot celebrated the sacrament of baptism with thirty-four people being united to Christ’s Church on that day.
In the village of Ntiku in the Zomba district of the southern province of Malawi, on 13th August one hundred and seventy people immediately received baptism. The sacrament was celebrated by the dean of the parishes of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa in Malawi Father George Chabwera and Father Timothy Chintenga. The catechumens were taught the foundations of the faith by catechizers John Dambo and Sylvester Collins.
On 15th August at the parish in the city of Yaoundé the dean of the parishes of the Patriarchal Exarchate in Cameroon Father Victor Lissom, Father John Bessala and Father Benedict Ouona baptized ten people, among whom were six children. At present, another group is undergoing catechism. The baptism is planned for 28th August on the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God.
