The Magdala Representation of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission celebrates its patronal feast
Apostles, the Magdala Representation of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission celebrated its patronal feast.
With a blessing of His Beatitude Theophilos, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated on the festive day by the Exarch for All Galilee, Metropolitan Kiryakos of Nazareth. Among his concelebrants were Archimandrite Alexander (Elisov), head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem; Archpriest Igor Pchelintsev, sacristan of the REM representation in Tel Aviv-Yafo; Archimandrite Seraphim (Patriarchate of Jerusalem), rector of the church of St. Nichols the Wonderworker of Myra in Lycea in Migdal-HaEmek; and Hieromonk Athanasy (Bukin), treasurer of the Mission.
Among the worshippers were Sister Ekaterina (Chernysheva), mother superior of the Gorny Convent in Ein Karem and her sisters; Archpriest Miroslav Vitiv, sacristan of the REM Haifa Representation; Hegumen Nikon (Golovko), secretary of the Mission; Hieromonk Pavel (Kuznetsov), a cleric of the Metropolis of Tatarstan; Father Irinarch (Mitkas), father superior of the Monastery of the Twelve
Apostles in Capernaum; Mr. R. Dikansky, director of the Russian Museum Park in Jericho; as well as staff member of the Russian embassy in Israel and representatives of Christian communities in Teverya and Nazareth.
During the service celebrated in Church Slavonic, Greek and Arabic, the hymns were sung by the choir of the Gorny convent sisters.
After the Dismissal, the clergy walked in a procession with the cross around the church and said the prayer for the repose of the souls for the dead workers and benefactors of the metochion at the station cross. Then Archimandrite Alexander read a prayer to St. Mary Magdalene Equal-to-the-Apostles.
After the service, sisters of the Gorny Convent who work at the metochion offered a meal to all the guests of the feast.
