Annunciation of the Theotokos is celebrated in the Holy Land

On 7 th April 2021, the feast of the `Annunciation of the Most Holy Mother of God, His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, celebrated the festal divine service at the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth at the site of the spring where the Annunciation took place. Hierarchs and clerics of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem concelebrated. Hieromonk Dometian (Markarian), deputy head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, took part in the service with the blessing of Archimandrite Aleksandr (Yelisov), head of the Mission.

On the feast day, Archimandrite Aleksandr officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Jerusalem in concelebration with Hegumen Nikon (Golovko), hieromonk Afanasy (Bukin) and Deacon Ilia Drachuk. After the postcommunion verse, Hegumen Nikon said a sermon based on the topic of the feast.

After the dismissal, clerics celebrated glorification in the centre of the church and Archimandrite Aleksandr addressed the worshippers with pastor’s homily.
