Patriarch Kirill extends condolences to Nigeria’s president over the death of Christian civilians at the hands of terrorists
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has sent to Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan the following message of condolences over the tragic death of over one hundred citizens of his country as a result of terrorist actions committed against Christian civilians:
To: His Excellency Mr. Goodluck Jonathan
President of Nigeria
Your Excellency, Dear Mr. President:
Last week, extremists committed several terrorist actions against Christian civilians in Nigeria. Regrettably, the violence against Christians in the country has continued for a long time, causing human death toll, pain and suffering. In connection with the tragic death of over one hundred citizens of the Republic at the hands of criminals, I would like to ask you to convey my sincere condolences to the bereaved families.
I appeal to you to make all that is possible to stop the wave of violence against the Christian population of your country.
In these days of grief, I am praying to the All-Merciful Lord for the cessation of strife and establishment of peace in Nigeria and for the consolation of those who have lost their relatives and loved ones.
With condolences,
+ KIRILL,
PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA
Patriarch
