Orthodox divine service is to be celebrated in old French church of St. Radegund
On August 19, 2018, the Day of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in the Talmont-sur-Gironde commune by Father Maxim Politov, secretory of the diocese of Chersonese. The liturgical hymns will be sung by the choir of the Cathedral of the Trinity in Paris.
The church of St. Radegund is a unique construction towering on a cliff. Its foundation was laid down as far back as the end of the 11th century on one of the paths walked by St. Jacob. The Catholic church combines Roman and Gothic styles. In the 20th century the building of the church was reckoned among France’s historic monuments.
According to the website of the diocese of Chersonese, the celebration of the Divine Liturgy will be followed by the traditional blessing of fruits.
