Meeting between Metropolitan Hilarion and Primate of Orthodox Church of Antioch

On May 9, 2018, His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Antioch, received in audience at his Lebanese residence in the Balamand Monastery, the chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR), Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, who had come to Lebanon with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

They discussed the bilateral and common Orthodox cooperation and inter-confessional and interreligious relations.

They were joined in their talk by Metropolitan Niphon of Philippople, representative of the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia; Archpriest Nikolay Balashov, DECR vice-chairman; Hegumen Arseniy (Sokolov), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East; and Archimandrite Parthenios (Allati), personal secretary to His Beatitude.

Present at the meeting was also Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), rector of the Moscow Patriarchate Beirut representation, who was introduced to the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Antioch by His Eminence Hilarion.
