The first monastic community of the Patriarchal Exarchate for Africa is settling down in Madagascar
DECR Communication Service, 22.08.2022.
For the first time in the history of the Patriarchal Exarchate for Africa, a monastic community has declared its move to the fold of the Russian Orthodox Church. It is reported by the website of the Patriarchate Exarchate for Africa.
When Sister Nektaria and a group of novices in the city of Ambatondrazaka in Madagascar announced their decision and after doing their packing left their previous place of residence, Rev. John Takutusulufu, a priest of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, called the police and journalists and accused the nuns of theft. Earlier, his false reports led to the arrest of clerics of the Moscow Patriarchate, while Metropolitan Ignatios of Antananarivo and North-Madagascar, in his turn, tried to force the sisters to give false evidence against the clergy who moved from the Church of Alexandria to the Patriarchal Exarchate. However, this time the police refused to detain imaginary offendresses.
At present, the sisters are already settling down in a facility rented for them by the Patriarchal Exarchate.
