DECR Communication Service, 28/11/2024
On November 27th, the commemoration day of the Holy Apostle Philip, the first and only Russian Orthodox church in the Arabian Peninsula, located in the city of Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates, celebrated its patronal feast.
Officiating at the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Holy Apostle Philip was Bishop Alexy of Baku and Azerbaijan. Concelebrating with the hierarch were: Archimandrite Alexander (Zarkeshev), rector of the church; Archpriest Dionisy Svechnikov, secretary of the Diocese of Baku; Priest Konstantin Orlov, a cleric of the church; as well as Protodeacon Konstantin Markovich and Deacon Alexy Kostin.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the parish choir. The church was adorned with garlands of fresh flowers.
The Gospel reading was followed by a sermon delivered by Bishop Alexy.
Most of the worshippers partook of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
After the Liturgy, prayers of praise to St. Philip were offered in front of his icon.
After the dismissal, Archimandrite Alexander addressed Bishop Alexy of Baku and Azerbaijan with words of greetings. In return, the archpastor extended his felicitations to the rector, the benefactor and the parishioners of the church on the occasion of the patronal feast.
