Church of the Holy Trinity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Chernivtsi region was seized
DECR Communication Service, 21/12/2023
On December 20, activists of the Orthodox church of Ukraine seized the Church of the Holy Trinity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Rzhavintsy village, Chernivtsi region, pravlife.org website reports, citing the Press Service of the Chernivtsi and Bukovyna diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Armed with a crowbar and an angle grinder, the attackers broke down the door and seized the church building. When inside, they celebrated their “moleben.” All the while, the chairperson of the local unified territorial community, Vitaliy Shafer, and the police were present at the scene.
“This is what a “voluntary” transfer to the OCU looks like – with the police not letting parishioners approach the church and attackers breaking down doors. What kind of god do they pray to?” a spokesperson of the Chernivtsi and Bukovyna diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church commented after the video of the incident had become available.
