New York's St Nicholas Cathedral visited by newly appointed Russian Consul General

On the 17th of November 2023, the newly appointed Consul General of the Russian Federation in New York, A.K. Zakharov, visited St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York. The diplomat was welcomed by Archpriest Igor Vyzhanov, rector of the cathedral, and Hegumen Nicodim (Balyasnikov), acting chancellor of the Patriarchal parishes in the United States. The guest was shown the church; then a conversation was held about the life of compatriots in New York.
A.K. Zakharov has specialised in the North American region for many years and, prior to his current appointment, was Consul General of the Russian Federation in Houston, Texas.
During the meeting, the parties expressed hope for further continuation of mutually beneficial relations between the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in New York and the Representative Office of the Moscow Patriarchate in the United States, according to the website of the Patriarchal Parishes.
