The Primate of the Antiochian Church expresses gratitude to Patriarch Kirill for help in supplying the Lebanon with Covid-19 vaccines
With the blessing of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, under the auspices of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate on 25th July 2021 there was delivered to the Lebanon a shipment of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. The Primate of the Antiochian Orthodox Church His Beatitude the Patriarch of Great Antioch and All the East John X sent a letter of thanks to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. The letter states the following:
Your Holiness the Most Holy Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, ardently beloved of our God Jesus, the concelebrant of Our Humility, dear Vladyka Kirill! Filled with joy, we embrace you with a fraternal kiss and say: We greet you from Damascus in the hope that this missive finds you in good health.
We would like to convey to you our heartfelt gratitude for all of the endeavours you have undertaken in helping your brothers from the Antiochian Orthodox Church. The relationship which binds our two Churches in full measure is expressed and translated in the language of actions. With this missive I would like to thank Your Holiness for the aid which you recently sent in the form of the Sputnik vaccine, which is a true manifestation of your compassion and of the fact that you are with our Church during this time of terrible trial which the whole world has had to contend with and during which it has suffered from the heavy burden of the coronavirus pandemic.
I pray to the Lord of peace that he will have mercy upon his world, that he will grant rest to the souls of his departed servants, that he will comfort the sick and give strength to all medical workers. I raise up my prayer with you to the Almighty Creator that he will preserve the Moscow Patriarchate and all of Russia and that he will prolong the years of your life for the ministry of the Holy Church, whose children are in need of such a saving fount of pastoral guidance inspired by the wisdom of God.
