DECR chairman meets with leaders of Baptist World Alliance

On May 23, 2022, the Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, met at the DECR with the President of the Baptist World Alliance, Rev. Tomás Mackey, and the BWA General Secretary, Mr. Elijah Brown.
Present at the meeting were. P. V. Mitskevich, Chairman of the Russian Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists; the first vice-chairman of the RUECB V. V. Ignatenkov; Head of the RUECB administration, V. A. Miskevich and I. P. Mitskevich. Participating in the meeting from the DECR was Hierodeacon Peter (Akhmatkhanov), staff member of the DECR Secretariat for inter-Christian Relations.
Metropolitan Hilarion warmly welcomed the guests and congratulated P. V. Mitskevich on his re-election as chairman of the Russian Baptist Union.
The discussion focused on issues concerning the cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Baptist World Alliance

The Baptist World Alliance (BWA) was founded in 1905. It unites 245 Baptist unions of almost 51 million members in 128 countries. Among the BWU members is the Russian Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists.
