DECR Communication Service, 09.05.2022.
The Church is seeking to use all her resources to help people amid the political confrontation in Ukraine, stressed the Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, on the air of the TV program “The Church and the World”.
We can see how enormous is the work carried out by the Russian Orthodox Church under the guidance of Patriarch Kirill to help those who suffer, primarily to help those refugees who have found themselves now in the territory of Russia, and there are already over a million of them. We can see how immense is the work carried out for the displaced people by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the territory of Ukraine. We can see how Local Churches, in particular in Poland and Romania, have responded to the disaster that has befallen those who have turned out to be refugees and how they these Churches are helping refugees”, the archpastor said.
His Eminence Hilarion also stated that the Church “cannot make a direct impact on the course of the negotiations or on the course of military actions”.
