Metropolitan Hilarion: Prayer for peace is the Church’s response to conflicts and confrontations

“Prayer is the basic weapon of the Church. Politicians use one type of weapons, the military – another type, while the weapon of the Church is prayer,” Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk pointed out.

He reminded the viewers of the Church and the World TV program that with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia the prayer for restoring peace has been lifted up at each divine service for the last two months. “Every Christiаn at home and we all during divine services are praying for peace,” he underscored.

“At hard times of conflict or military confrontation, the Church responds to the challenge with the prayer of fervent supplication. The Russian Orthodox Church throughout our country as well as in other countries is offering up ardent prayer for the restoration of peace,” said Metropolitan Hilarion.
