DECR Communication Service, 23.04.2022.
On April 22, 2022, Great Friday, a prayer for peace was lifted up in the Small Throne Hall of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Thanks to the Russian Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called, which organizes this action as well as the delivery of the Holy Fire to Russia, this traditional prayer was said in Jerusalem for the twentieth time.
Before the prayer, head of the delegation of the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called and chairman of its Board of Trustees, Vladimir V. Yakunin, addressed His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine with greetings and words of gratitude for invariable warm welcome and standing in prayer for peace in the world.
His Beatitude warmly thanked the representatives of the Foundation for their commitment to tradition and underscored that the Church of Jerusalem – Mother and Martyr, which has been called to bear witness about the Crucified and Risen Saviour, teaches each of us and our Orthodox people to live through the dark times in the hope that the light of Christ’s Resurrection would again shine upon the world before long.
The prayer for peace in the Holy City and in the whole world was read by His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos and clerics of the Brotherhood of the Hoy Sepulchre on behalf of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem and by Bishop Foma of Odintsovo and Krasnogorsk and clerics of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem on behalf of the Russian Orthodox Church.
They were joined in the prayer by H.E. Anatoly D. Viktorov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the State of Israel, Mr. Vladimir V. Yakunin, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the St. Andrew the First-Called Foundation, its director Mr. Vladimir V. Bushuev, and members of the delegation.
