His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his condolences to the President of the United States of America Joseph Biden over the tragic consequences of a tornado in a number of American states

Dear Mr. President,

It has grieved me to learn of the devastating tornadoes that hit several U.S. states. The disaster killed dozens of people, including children, women and the elderly. Many more people got injured and lost their homes. Destroyed and damaged were houses and facilities, city and transport infrastructure.

Please convey my words of heartfelt sympathy and support to all those who have lost their relatives and friends. May the Merciful Lord wipe away tears of those mourning, giving them fortitude to endure this ordeal; and may He grant the soonest recovery to the injured and strengthen those who are doing all they can to rescue survivors and cope with the aftermaths of the natural disaster.
