Archbishop Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, visited the Stavrovouni Monastery of the Honorable and Life-giving Cross of Our Lord, the oldest monastery in Cyprus founded in the 4th century by the Holy Queen Helen Equal-to-the-Apostles.
The Joint Orthodox-Catholic International Commission for Theological Dialogue completed its session on 23 October in Paphos, Cyprus. The Orthodox side included representatives of the Patriarchates of Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem, Moscow, Serbia, Romania, Georgia and the Orthodox Churches of Cyprus, Greece, Poland, Albania and the Czech Lands and Slovakia.
On 22 October 2009, the Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department Archbishop Hilarion of Volokolamsk met with His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Nea Justiniana and All Cyprus. Taking part in the meeting that took place in Paphos, Cyprus, was Metropolitan Isaiah (Kykkotis) of Tamassos.
In the course of his pastoral visitation to Italy, Archbishop Innokenty of Korsun, administrator of the Russian Orthodox parishes in that country performed on October 18 the Lesser Consecration of the church of the Intercession in Ravenna.
The choir consists mainly of the Sretensky seminarians and graduates of the Moscow Seminary and Academy. Among its members are also students and graduates of the Moscow Academy of Choral Singing, Moscow Conservatoire and the Gnessin Academy of Music.
Metropolitan Filaret of Minsk and Slutsk, Patriarchal Exarch for All Belarus, in the course of his pilgrimage to the Holy Land, met on October 19 with His Beatitude Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine.

On 20 October 2009, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev was awarded the Order of St. Savva, 1st class, by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia.
