In the beginning of their talk, Metropolitan Hilarion underscored the importance of the new Constitution adopted by the Hungarian Parliament as it contains a mention of God, calls Hungary a part of Christian Europe and defines marriage as a union between man and woman.
Meeting Metropolitan Hilarion were Zoltan Challokeze, head of Mr. Semjén’s cabinet, Ms Martha Linke from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Valery Platonov, cultural attaché of the Russian embassy in Budapest.
They discussed a number of topics of mutual interest. Metropolitan Hilarion told Ambassador Avdeyev about his recent trip to Lebanon and noted that Christian minorities in certain countries of the Middle East are persecuted and need protection.
