Outstanding Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica has been awarded the Patriarch Alexy II Prize established by the International Public Foundation of Orthodox Nations.
As the 80th birthday of Metropolitan Nikodim of Leningrad and Novgorod’ has been widely marked in these days, the office for the repose of his soul was said on 18 October 2009 at the Parish of the Intercession in Dusseldorf in the Russian Orthodox Church representation in Germany.
Displayed are Metropolitan Nikodim’s vestments, belongings, photographs and the first editions of his works. Another part of the exhibition highlights the work of Patriarch Kirill when he was rector of the Academy.
It was built by a Russian merchant in the so-called ‘Green Market’ where Russian merchants used to sell greens. In the Soviet time the chapel was closed and since the last century 80s it was tended by the Parish of St. Alexander Nevsky but registered as a property in abeyance.
