On 3-5 February 2018, the 12th International Educational Sretensky Readings on ‘Rule of Faith and Image of Humility. Historical Role and Spiritual Feat of Bishop’s Ministry’ were held in Helsinki (Finland).

With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Bishop Serafim of Lubertsy, chairman of the Synodal Department for Youth Affairs, attended the meeting.

The Readings were preceded by the divine services. On February 3, Bishop Serafim of Lubertsy celebrated the All-Night Vigil at the Church of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God. Concelebrating with him were Archpriest Viktor Liutik, rector of the church, and the clergy who had arrived in Helsinki to take part in the event.

On February 4, the Primate of the Autonomous Orthodox Church of Finland, Archbishop Leo of Karelia and All Finland, officiated at the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Holy Dormition. Concelebrating with him were Bishop Serafim, Archpriest Viktor Liutik, clerics of the Church of Finland and clergymen from Russia, Ukraine, Sweden and Iceland.

After the service, Vladyka Serafim greeted Archbishop Leo on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and presented him with a tapestry depicting the Crucifixion of the Lord.

The Sretensky Readings opened at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Helsinki with a report by Bishop Serafim of Lubertsy on ‘Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov) of Leningrad and Novgorod. Life in the Struggle for the Dignity of the Church.’

On February 5, Bishop Serafim met with Mr. Pavel Kuznetsov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Finland. That same day Bishop Serafim held a meeting with Archbishop Leo of Karelia and All Finland to discuss various issues of youth ministry.

The Sretensky Readings were organized by the representation of the Moscow Patriarchate in Finland in cooperation with the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Helsinki, Patriarhia.ru web portal reports, citing the website of the Synodal Department for Youth Affairs and Blagovest portal.
