His Holiness Patriarch Kirill’s message of greetings marking the patronal feast of Russian St. Panteleimon Monastery on Mount Athos
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia congratulated Archimandrite Eulogius, Hegumen of the Russian Monastery of St. Panteleimon on Mount Athos, on the patronal feast of his abode.
Very Reverend Archimandrite Eulogius
Russian Monastery of St. Panteleimon on Mount Athos
Very Reverend and Honourable Archimandrite Eulogius and the brethren,
I cordially greet all of you with the patronal feast of the Monastery of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon.
Today the memory of the passion-bearer has been shown forth; come ye faithful, let us spiritually rejoice and crown him with hymns (Sticheron at the Praises). Thus the Church of Christ is singing today, inviting us to glorify this saint, pleasing unto God. Responding to this call, the Athonite brotherhood and numerous pilgrims who have gathered at the monastery are praising during the all-night service this martyr for his mercies and miracles.
It is a great blessing for the Russian abode on Mount Athos to be the place where the holy head of St. Panteleimon is kept, remaining a source of blessed strength for the brethren in their courageous ascetic deeds. It is gratifying to see how by the intercession of the great martyr and through the efforts of good people the monastery is undergoing revival after a long period of decay associated with the tragic events in the history of our homeland.
Spiritually rejoicing with you on this radiant feast, I call upon you to pray unceasingly for your homeland and the Russian Church. May the All-Merciful Lord by the intercession of the Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon grant you strength and His generous help in your monastic deeds.
May God’s blessing be with you.
PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA
