Church representatives take part in international conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Russkiy Mir Foundation
An International conference, “Russian World: the Present and the Future” timed to the 10th anniversary of the Russkiy Mir (Russian World) Foundation took place at the State Kremlin Palace on June 21, 2017. Attending the conference were eminent public and political persons from Russia and foreign countries, famous scientists, authors and workers of culture, teachers of the Russian language and literature, diplomats, clergymen and journalists – Russian compatriots from over eighty countries of the world.
The Russian Orthodox Church was represented by Bishop Antony of Bogorodsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Administration for Institutions Abroad; Archpriest Antony Ilyin, coordinator for external relations of the Diocese of Sourozh and advisor to the chairman of the Russkiy Mir Foundation Board; hierodeacon Roman (Kiselev), a staff member of the Secretariat for far-abroad countries of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations; Mr. Leonid Sevastianov, executive director of the St. Gregory the Theologian Foundation, and his deputy Igor Lapshin.
The participants in the meeting considered the problems of identity and consolidation of the Russian world, the preservation of cultural heritage and development of the Russian language and culture.
The conference has provided the participants with an opportunity to hear the authoritative assessments of experts and to express their own opinion in discussions on the topical problems of the Russian-speaking community abroad.
