Head of Moscow Patriarchate’s Administration for Institutions Abroad consecrates renovated Church of Ss Peter and Paul in Karlovy Vary

On 11 October 2015, 19th Sunday after Pentecost, Archbishop Mark of Yegoryevsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Administration for Institutions Abroad, performed the rite of consecration of the renovated Church of Ss Peter and Paul, Metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, and celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church.

Concelebrating with Archbishop Mark were Archbishop Michael of Prague and the Czech Lands and Archbishop Jachym of Beroun (Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia); Archpriest Nikolai Lischenyuk, rector of the Russian Orthodox Church’s Metochion in Karlovy Vary; Archpriest Vladimir Abrosimov, rector of the Church of the Holy Martyr Lyudmila, a Czech princess, at the Russian Embassy in Prague; and Archpriest Petr Romanovich, Secretary of the Brest Diocesan Administration.

During the Liturgy, Archbishop Feofan of Berlin and Germany was praying in the sanctuary. Among the worshippers were also Mr. Sergey Kiselev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Czech Republic; Mr. Konstantin Provalov, Russian Consul General in Karlovy Vary; Mr. Alexander Budayev, Russian Consul General in Brno; Ms Pavla Bendova, head of the Department for Religious Organizations of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic; and representatives of the administration of the Karlovy Vary Region and the town of Karlovy Vary.

After the Litany of Fervent Supplication, Archbishop Mark lifted up a prayer for peace in Ukraine. After the Divine Service, a thanksgiving was said and a procession of the cross took place, the Moscow Patriarchate’s Administration for Institutions Abroad reports.

That same day in the evening a concert was held at the church. During the concert, the choir of the St. Petersburg theological schools performed religious hymns, the website of the Russian Orthodox Church reports.
