Representative of Patriarch of Moscow to Patriarch of Antioch meets with Metropolitan Basil of Akkar
On October 25, 2014, Hegumen Arseny (Sokolov), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, met with Metropolitan Basil of Akkar in the city of Halba, northern Lebanon (Patriarchate of Antioch).
The Metropolis of Akkar of the Orthodox Church of Antioch united parishes and monasteries in the extreme north of Lebanon and the southern part of the seaside Syria, including the city of Tartus. Metropolitan Basil told his guest about the life of the metropolis and the difficult situation of Orthodox Christians living in those regions.
Taking part in the talk were Archpriest Halil, secretary of the metropolis, clergy from Helba and interpreter Yusef el-Huri, a parishioner of the Beirut representation of the Moscow Patriarchate.
After the talk, Father Arseny saw the Metropolis of Akkar’s socio-medical center.
In conclusion of the meeting, Father Arseny presented Metropolitan Basil of a copy of the book by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia Freedom and Responsibility published in Beirut in Arabic, the website of the Beirut representation of the Moscow Patriarchate reports.
