Russian Parish of Holy Trinity in Ulan-Bator engaged in joint project with Mongolian art school ‘Anima’

The Parish of the Holy Trinity in Ulan-Bator has initiated in October 2010 a joint project with the Mongolian Art School ‘Anima’. This project is a continuation of the program carried out by the Parish’s cultural center for popularizing Russian culture in Mongolia.

The Anima school has functioned in Ulan-Bator for many years as an art college training professional artists. It has never limited its work however to education alone but also paid attention to the formation of young people. The school offers free education to children from low-income families. Its program for disabled children is especially interesting as it gives an opportunity for creative work even to the blind.

The director of the school, Ms Yadamsuren Belgana, is a graduate of the Repin Institute of Art, Sculpture and Architecture in St. Petersburg. She has successfully combined traditions of the Russian art school with traditions of the Mongolian folk culture.

At present, art and ceramics classes function at the parish, training some 40 children, the website of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Ulan-Bator has reported.

There are only a few ceramic workshops functioning in the Mongolian capital, one of them at the Parish of the Holy Trinity. The lessons are given by professional teachers, graduates of Mongolian higher education institutes.
