His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia met, on Dec. 22 at his working residence, the president of the Christian Public Association, Mr. Kazimierz Morawski, Poland.
They were joined in their talk by Mr. Eugeniusz Czykwin, Polish Parliament member, Hieromonk Philip (Riabykh), DECR vice-chairman, and Archpriest Igor Vyzhanov, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations.
Welcoming Mr. Morawski, His Holiness noted in particular the long-standing experience of good relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Christian Public Association.
His Holiness stressed that the Russian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church in Poland can meet together the challenges of the secular world in today’s Europe, defending traditional Christian values and actively participating in the process of normalizing Russian-Polish relations.
Mr. Morawski thanked the primate of the Russian Church for the warm welcome, saying, “I have always believed that Poland should be closer to Russia, and we can help to bring it about. We are ready to work for it as much as we can’.
