Rev. Georgy Zavershinsky reads a lecture on the dialogue between faith and reason
On November 3, the Rev. Georgy Zavershinsky, doctor of philosophy and candidate of technical sciences, at present the head of the DECR Communication Service, read a lecture on "Theology of a Dialogue. Buber or Levinas: Ontology or Ethics?" at the "Pokrovskiye Vorota' Cultural centre.
Fr. Georgy presented modern philosophical views on the dialogue from a perspective of Orthodox theology. He believes that Orthodox worldview has no difficulties in bringing general ethical standards into the line with the highest ethics of the relations between God and man. The lecturer answered questions that were asked mostly about the relationship between faith and science, theology and philosophy.
A series of lectures on the theology of a dialogue is to show possibilities and necessity of a dialogue between faith and reason that shape the integrity of the human person.
